What a busy weekend we had... Bubba got married! It started with a houseful on Friday night. Erik & I hosted the Kohlenstein/Wasik/Markley families for dinner. It was great to have enough room to comfortable host dinner, which was delicious (thank you) and plenty of wine. It actually started Thursday night, dinner at Suzanne & Steve's with a whole lot more wine. Saturday morning came quickly and started with Joey (our dog) wondering off at 6:30am. Erik & I were outside in the dark and in pj's looking for a black dog, we can't yell for him considering the entire street was probably still sleeping! He wondered home and Erik headed to Huntersville for a game of golf with Steve and the guys. Steph, Owen & Camden joined all the ladies for lunch at Birkdale and then to the house for preparations. It was beautiful! Candles surrounded the pool, tiki torches bordered the yard, and lights lit the bushes.
Erik was in charge of Owen, who at one point was running around without a shirt on. Daddy claims he was playing with dirty wood and was worried Owen would get his white shirt full of mud... so off it came (30 minutes before the wedding, people are everywhere and our child is half dressed)! Muddy chest, muddy pants, and muddy shoes but the white shirt stayed cleaned. Throughout the short and very quiet ceremony, Owen kept saying "cheese" (he was holding my camera), "bubba", "daddy". You could hear a pin drop, it was that quiet. Or maybe it just seemed that quiet because I was sitting up front with Owen, all eyes on the Bride & Groom but the voice of a 2 year old sporadically throughout! As champagne was poured, Erik & Travis prepared for their speeches. Owen sitting in the front (facing the pool and everyone else) wanted to sit in his own chair. I sat him on the chair and as he slid back to sit up straight, his little bum slid right out the back of the chair. Luckily mommy was there to catch him as his entire body folded in half, forcing him to the ground... he stood right up and climbed back in the chair - no fear for our little man! Thank goodness for Cousin Chris, who took on the role of feeding Camden and keeping her happy during the wedding. Daddy was staying next to Suzanne, along with Jaime & Ian.
