Owen Being a BIG Brother!

Owen is so sweet to Camden, but she is also the “little” sister that will grow up to be tough. This week, Owen threw a Halloween figurine and Cammie’s cheek happened to be the place it landed. With a few screams, she toughened up but has a scratch and bruise on her cheek. Two days later, Owen (laying on the changing table) dropped his cup and it happened to land on Cammie’s other cheek. She screamed, probably more scared than hurt, no bruise was left. Owen is always so concerned about Cammie and after she calmed down, he smiled and gave her a kiss on the cheek (we are working on saying “sorry”). As Camden was sitting in her car seat waiting to leave, Owen said “Cammie boo boo bunny”. Boo boo bunny is what we use to help Owen recover quickly from his own little accidents (it stays in the freezer until needed). Owen runs to the freezer, opens the door and grabs his boo boo bunny. He hurries it over to Camden and applies it to her cheek (the wrong side, but we give him credit for trying). A holds the cold bunny to her cheek and repeats “Cammie boo boo” over and over. He then walks back to the freezer “Cammie boo boo bunny all done” and tries to open the freezer door. He needs both hands to open, he placed the boo boo bunny on the floor and looks at me and smiles. He opens the freezer and returns boo boo bunny to its home. He was so excited and proud of himself, as are we!

Owen turns 2 in just 3 weeks. We can’t believe how much he has changed over the past few months (even weeks). He is putting more and more words together. He has mastered jumping, actually leaving the ground with both feet at the same time! He is very proud of this accomplishment and is eager for you to watch him – “look Nina, look mommy, look daddy….” as he jumps like a kangaroo all over the place. Owen has this very cute grin, it is a smile that says “I’m so proud of me”!

Nina (Regina – Owen’s sitter) has been a little concerned and wants to know why she is being put in the same category as Uncle Guppy. After the wedding, Owen went to Regina’s telling her “beeeehave Nina, beeeeehave Guppy”. This was learned after Owen hearing us to tell his Uncle Ian to behave all weekend. Owen is Regina’s little helper (although, I’m not sure how much help he actually provides). Between telling Ave no, which sounds like “Ella No” and letting Regina know that “Ella pooped” and “don’t” – we are still trying to figure out where he learned this word, he tries to keep the little ones in line and happy (most of the time). Owen hears us talk to Brock & Joey (which by the way – each dog now has their own name and Joey is now called “joeeee”, not “jo jo”. He watches us clap our hands to get their attention or point to the ground for them to lay down. Owen occasionally mimics us in disciplining the dogs. Just this week, at Regina’s… After Owen’s diaper change, it was Ava’s turn. As Regina called for Ava to get her attention, our little Owen yelled “Ella” as he clapped his hands. He did this in the same way he would help us call the dogs. Regina had to help Owen understand that Ava was not a doggie. Owen is famous for repeating the same phrases over and over. One day it’s “bye Keeeum and bye Cooreey” (Regina’s kids) or “I want a coooookey” or “I see Ellmow” or “milk cup” and the list goes on and on.
