We are two months into fall and it’s been an adventure!
September 19th – We took a road trip to baby Austin’s 1st birthday party in Maryland. It was a great weekend with the Kohlenstein family. When the Kohlenstein's get together, we stay together... literally. There is no need for hotels or sleeping at neighbors, we find a way to fit in the same space to maximize family time. Let me clarify - 12 adults and 3 children in Aunt Jaime & Uncle Greg's house. It was so wonderful to wake up to house full of people! HAPPY BIRTHDAY BABY AUSTIN & BUBBA!
October 23rd – Discovery Place Kids open and we are there to see it! What an amazing place for children of all ages. Owen & Cammie loved playing with their cousins, Conor & Aschton. They climbed in a fire truck, race car, boat, tractor, ambulance, sat in the bank and played teller with play money, shopped in the mini Earthfare grocery store and cooked us lunch in the mini cafe.
October 31st – Halloween is here and Aunt Dawn came to visit. This is her 3rd year spending Halloween with us and this was definitely the most fun! It started with our cul-de-sac's third annual "bon fire". Okay, so it's not really a bon fire, it's really a fire pit in the middle of the street with tons of camping chairs and cocktails. It's a time we gather as neighbors and celebrate the fall weather. Thom made Chili (Fitness de Cuisine style) and we added a few other snacks. Kids ran in the streets and played until exhaustion set in - around 9:30pm. The next day (31st) we carved pumpkins and took a tour of the neighborhood. Owen & Camden couldn't walk fast enough to each house. Owen was so polite with his words and had excellent manners as he filled his basket with candy. Cammie was more quiet but didn't hesitate to take handfuls at each house. They were so excited and had so much fun. We loved having Aunt Dawn with us and I'm sure she loved taking ALL the candy home (sorry Owen & Cammie but mommy kept zero pieces - it was for your good and health)!
November 12th – Mom takes a flight to NJ to meet our newest cousin “Baby Gemma Rose Salvi”. Owen & Cammie spent a weekend with daddy. I left town with dinners made for the 3 days, school clothes on the bed, and lunches packed in the fridge. I also left a detailed note, making the morning smooth for Erik - this was the first time that Erik was able to drop-off and pick-up the kids from preschool. He arrived to school at 9:05 (drop-off starts at 9:15am)… no problem. He arrived at school at 1:12pm (pick-up starts at 12:50, last pick-up is at 1:05pm). It’s a good thing I “prepared” the kids teachers that daddy would be in charge!
